Im hearing a knocking noise form the engine by the surpentine belt?

I dont think it is a rod knock because wen i take the surpentine belt off and start the engine the knocking stops so what could it be i changed the water pump and alternator the only thing left is the power steering pump is this the problem

Here is an old trick. Take a Broom stick handle and with the engine running put it on or near each component (alt p/steering pump) etc. and listen.....you will hear the difference (note) don't put it directly on the pulley. Hope this Helps.

It could be the ac compressor, or tensioner pulley
