Car Engine Question, please help?

My machanic changed the Alternator Belt %26amp; Power Sterling belt for me 3 wks ago, while he did the oil change.

Now the water pump failed, all the coolant water came out of the bottom, is it possible that it has to do w/ the belt changes from 3 wks ago?
Car Engine Question, please help?
Yes, it IS possible, however, it isn't likely. I've worked in the automotive service industry for years and this happens all of the time. If it was something they did wrong it would have happend soon after you left the repair shop. I know it's prob not the answer you want to hear but sometimes cars fail, things break, and sometimes that's right after you have your vehicle serviced. I would take it back and ask them to take a look at it. Don't go there acusing anyone of damaging your car and i'm sure they will be more than helpful! Goodluck.

I would say it is purely coincidence. There is no way changing a belt will ruin the internal seal of the water pump. Guess it was it's time to go. What did the coolant come out of the bottom of, the water pump, or the radiator?
Yes if the belts also came off.It depends on the make and model.Weather your water pumps getting turned by one of the belts he changed.
If the belts are to tight, the water pump can mess up. I don't think it could ruin the thing in 3 weeks though unless you've driven 5000 miles or something. It's probably not even the water pump that's leaking.
n e thing is poss but it is not likely most tech watch 4 things like this to not make mistakes on things like that sounds like the weep hole is leaking on the water pump just a guess why do people ask q like this i take it personal that when someone works on ur car we should b married 2 it from then on take it back 2 the shop u had the repairs done at if they made a mistake give them the opportunity to repair it i will b the first 2 tell u that we arrent perfect but never assume someone screwed up ur car
